Jewellery Care

How to care for your jewellery

My jewellery is fine and quite delicate so it naturally needs handing with some care and treating gently.

All silver jewellery naturally tarnishes over time.  My work is nearly always satinised silver or oxidised.  Satin surfaces can start to shine and polish up when worn, especially rings. To restore a matt finish gently rub the piece with extra fine wire wool.  For highly polished surfaces you can use a silver cloth. I also use Town Talk silver 'dip' cleaning solution to clean silver, especially chains.  Avoid using any silver dip on pearls, gemstones or oxidised surfaces.

I often oxidise silver to create rich dark surfaces to silver.  Sometimes I rub pieces back to reveal highlights, this I call antique finish.  Over time with wear, the oxidised surface can start to wear off, especially with rings.  If you would like the oxidised finish to be restored I can provide this service for a small fee.

I offer a professional cleaning service.  You can send me your pieces to be professionally cleaned or to remove any deep scratches.  This is a chargeable service to restore worn jewellery back to its former glory.
