Making

Everything I make is carefully considered, designed and handmade.
I draw, make paper models and experiment in copper before translating final designs into precious metals.  All of my designs are hand cut in silver and gold using my favourite antique piercing saw and a wide range of vintage hand tools. I love to use old tools as they are better quality and have an interesting history associated to them.

Throughout my career I have developed my own distincive botanical style in metal. I use a range of jewellery and silversmithing techniques. Some of these include piercing, complex soldering, shaping, die-pressing, granulation, roll-printing, chasing and planishing.  Attention to detail is important to me with a belief that the back of an object should be as beautiful as the front.

Every piece of jewellery and silverware I make is unique and is hallmarked by the Assay Office in Edinburgh.  In addition to this and to keep my work collectable some signature collections are marked with an issue number, similar to that of an artist’s print.

My signature materials include 18ct gold, green gold, satin and oxidised silver.  I use single mine origin gold, recycled precious metals and responsibly sourced gemstones to provide customers with a responsible choice.  I carefully source natural gemstones including sapphires, rubies, tourmalines and rose cut diamonds.  These are often hand cut for me, always having an organic feel to them, embracing natural inclusions and unique imperfections.
